West Bengal JEE is conducted by the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board (WBJEEB) for entrance into the various medical, engineering and technological courses in institutes of West Bengal. It is a state-level exam which is the gateway to get admissions into the B. Pharma and B. Tech courses in the technical institutes of the state.
Eligibility Criteria
All the exams have their own eligibility criteria i.e. the conditions which a candidate must fulfil in order to appear for that particular examination. For WBJEE, the eligibility criteria have been described in detail below. The terms and conditions of age, educational qualifications and domicile requirement have also been mentioned:
1. Age Limit
Engineering aspirants (except Marine Engineering): | Minimum- 17 years of age as on December 31, 2019 |
Maximum- No upper age limit | |
Marine Engineering aspirants: | Minimum- 17 years of age as on December 31, 2019 |
Maximum- 25 years of age as on December 31, 2019 |
2. Educational Qualification
For Engineering aspirants:
- Cleared Class 12 with Physics and Mathematics together with any one of Chemistry/ Biology/ Computer Application/ Computer Science/ Biotechnology as the compulsory subjects, with minimum 45% marks in all three subjects taken together.
- For reserved category, marks required is 40% in all the three subjects taken together.
- Aspirants must have passed English in Class 12 with at least 30% marks.
- The board of the qualifying examination must be recognised either by the Central Govt. or by the State Govt.
For Pharmacy aspirants:
- Cleared Class 12 with Physics and Chemistry together with any one of Mathematics / Biology/ Computer Application / Computer Science/ Biotechnology as the compulsory subjects, with minimum 45% marks in all three subjects taken together.
- For reserved category, marks required is 40% in all the three subjects taken together.
- Aspirants must have passed English in Class 12 with at least 30% marks.
- The board of the qualifying examination must be recognised either by the Central Govt. or by the State Govt.
3. Residential/Domicile Requirement
Aspirants are required to be a citizen of India to appear for the exam WBJEE 2020. Aspirants from any of the states of India are eligible to appear for the examination. The domicile is required only for the institutes that come under the government and to claim the reservation.
The aspirants should have been an inhabitant/ resident of West Bengal for 10 consecutive years as of December 31, 2019, in order to have domicile eligibility. If the aspirants’ parents are permanent inhabitants of the state i.e. West Bengal, with a permanent residential address, then domicile eligibility will be provided to the aspirants.
