Why Boxers Are a Great Choice for Men and Women

Spread the love

Boxers were introduced into the men’s underwear world in 1925, and since then, these underwear shorts have caught the eyes of both male and female comfort seekers. They were inspired by shorts worn by professional boxers during a fight, hence the name. With an elastic waistband and breathable cotton hanging loose from your waist, boxers have become the best underwear option for men.

Word of women’s obsession for a nice pair of boxers has gone far and wide, so far that a good number of designer brands like Calvin Klein and Ralph Lauren have created Woxers, a female version of the boxers. If you aren’t familiar with this new female boxer trend, below are a few reasons both genders love boxers and why it would be a good idea to jump on this trend.

It’s a healthy option

It’s a healthy option

Men don’t just love to wear boxers; they’re advised to do so. Some years back, a team of Harvard researchers found that wearing tight underwear could reduce sperm count. This is because sperm cells don’t survive for long in higher temperatures, and unfortunately, they’re stored in an external sac (the scrotum). The more cool air a man gets in that region, the better it is for the survival of his little swimmers. That’s why classic boxers aren’t just the best option for men in terms of comfort: They’re advised to wear them if they wish to continue being fertile.

Weirdly, this also applies to women, although it’s for different reasons. Apart from the fact that those loose suckers are unbelievably comfortable, they’re also quite friendly to a woman’s nether regions. First of all, boxers prevent chafing caused by friction and prevent yeast infections. Most women’s undies are made from spandex and nylon, which don’t offer much in terms of breathability. They hold in sweat and, sometimes, odor, making it a breeding ground for yeast and bacterial infections.

Speaking of materials, not all boxers are made of soft cotton that retains just the right amount of moisture. Some aren’t exactly recommended for either men or women. The best boxer shorts are organic cotton (of course), mesh, rayon, and silk. Some say polyester and nylon are just as good, but it depends on the user’s preference and skin type.

They’re extremely comfortable

Comfort is the number one reason both genders love to wear boxers. Who doesn’t like the feeling of freedom that comes with a loose pair of underwear? Men’s boxers come in an array of options, so you can wear them with all kinds of clothing. Boxer briefs are tighter around the thigh area, so they’re okay to wear with your favorite jeans. Boxer shorts are more appropriate as loungewear for a lazy day in. You can wear these with a pair of loose pants or a loose-fitting dress. Trunks also fall into the same category as boxer shorts in terms of their relaxed fit and can be worn around the house or for a casual day running errands.

Women’s love for men’s boxers has not gone unnoticed. Many designers have taken note of this and are releasing a new line of special boxers for women—the Woxer. Woxers have the same looseness and freedom as boxers but come in more feminine designs tailored to the female build. It’s another male piece of clothing women just can’t help stealing.

They make good sleepwear

Sleepwear is all about comfort, and boxers qualify for that in many ways. Boxer shorts are the best type of sleepwear since some come with buttons and hang loose enough for comfort. A good number of women agree that going to bed with a simple pair of boxers is a cheaper and more comfortable option than a pajama set or even nightgown.

Women’s health experts advise women not to go to bed with undergarments because it’s better to air out their lady parts at night while they sleep. Even though this isn’t a strict rule, not all women end up with health problems sleeping in underwear. However, it’s better to be safe than sorry. Boxer shorts provide almost the same benefits that come with sleeping bare-bottom since they leave plenty of room for ventilation.
